Short Information:

The Indian Air Force has released the AFCAT-01/2026 notification for courses starting in January 2027, offering approximately 340 vacancies in Flying (38 SSC), Ground Duty Technical (AE(L) & AE(M) – PC & SSC), and Ground Duty Non-Technical branches (WS, Admin, Lgs, Accts, Edn, Met – SSC only).

Applications will be open from 17 Nov 2025 (11 AM) to 14 Dec 2025 (11:30 PM) at https://afcat.edcil.co.in. Please ensure you have your Aadhaar ready, as it is mandatory.

The examination fee is ₹550 + GST (non-refundable) for AFCAT entries; there is no fee for NCC Special Entry.

In terms of age: Flying applicants should be 20-24 years old (26 with a CPL); Ground Duty applicants should be 20-26 years old (as of 01 Jan 2027). Also, candidates must remain unmarried during training.

Eligibility includes having at least 50% in Physics & Maths at 10+2 for Flying/Technical/WS/Met. A graduation or B.Tech degree with 60% is also required for specific branches in Technical roles.

 

The selection process consists of the AFCAT online exam (scheduled for 31 Jan 2026), then EKT (Technical), followed by an AFSB Interview, CPSS (Flying), a medical examination, and finally the merit list.

For Flying SSC, the duration is 14 years (non-extendable). For Ground Duty Technical, the PC lasts until superannuation; SSC is 10+4 years. Non-Technical SSC is also 10+4 years (PC option possible later).

Pay and Allowances (a) Pay: All the selected candidates will be paid as per the 7th Pay Commission in the applicable pay level of the respective branch and rank.
